An open letter to Mac:

Dear Mac,

Kindly suck my ass! Having to sit through one of your "hip" new ads tonight while watching Alias, the cheese nearly threw up in his mouth. The cheese is willing to admit that for some people, (people who have no desire whatsoever to actually LEARN something, people who just want bright colors and easily clickable icons) a Mac may be a pretty good buy. But until every decent computer game produced can be played on a Mac, or until you can buy 3rd party hardware and manually upgrade a Mac system, don't you fucking dare insinuate that a Mac has more "options" than a PC. Yes, PC's have their faults, but there is no hardware monopoly in the PC world. In fact, for the truly discerning PC user there are alternatives to Windows based software environments too.

Yours,
the cheese

Actually you can use your windows based programs on a mac. Apple is right now beta-ing a program that lets you run windows xp on your mac

I'm not saying it's a good idea. I was just letting everyone know that the thing exists. For good or for ill. Although the guys at penny arcade have been using and saying it's not too bad.

the cheese's point is this...

A lot of the "hype" you hear from macphiles is that windows blows, and mac doesn't have to rely on windows, but PC users don't have to rely on windows either. Now, the cheese hasn't had a whole lot of experience with Linux, but if he had the time he would fully convert his desktop to linux (cause you can run windows shells under linux in order to play games, etc.). Linux is much safer than windows (possibly even more than a Mac), and it's all open source. So in this way, you get the best of both worlds, no hardware, or software monopoly upon which the user is dependent.

Honestly, though, at some point Mac, Microsoft, Intel, and every other computer company will all merge together and take over the world...it's only a matter of time...

And they will be called Cyberdyne systems. Their first project will be skynet, an artificial intelligence used to monitor and control all of our military technology.

Or they could possibly split into 7 seperate companies that rule 99% of the world economy, and then one night people all over the world will simultaneously turn into orcs, dwarves, and trolls...
